Wynfield Plantation Announces Closure After Decades of Service to the Hunting Community
After 21years of providing an unparalleled quail hunting experience, Wynfield Plantation in South Georgia has announced it will be closing its doors to the public following the sale of the property. This marks the end of a significant chapter for the plantation and the many hunting enthusiasts who have made it a beloved destination since its founding in 1986.
A Legacy of Tradition and Conservation
From its beginning, Wynfield Plantation quickly rose to prominence as one of the most prestigious hunting destinations in the Southwest. With its sprawling acres of prime quail habitat, carefully managed fields, and dedication to conservation, Wynfield became synonymous with exceptional hunting and genuine Southern hospitality.
For decades, hunters, families, and friends gathered at Wynfield to share in a tradition that celebrated both the sport of quail hunting and the preservation of the land.
A Message of Gratitude
The Leach, Bettis, Satterfield and Kjellsen families, stewards of Wynfield Plantation since 2004 and 2010 respectively, expressed their deep appreciation to all who have been part of the plantation’s history.
“We have had the privilege of hosting so many wonderful hunters, friends, and families and events over the years. It has been an honor to preserve this property, maintain its rich legacy, and share the sport of quail hunting with so many passionate individuals,” they said. “As we close this chapter, we want to express our deepest gratitude to our staff, clients, and the local community. It has truly been a labor of love.”
End of an Era
The property has been sold to a private buyer, and as part of the process, Wynfield Plantation has officially closed to the public. Staff and management are working closely with current clients to ensure a smooth and respectful conclusion of operations. For customers who currently have deposits with Wynfield, the team will be reaching out in the coming weeks to address those accounts, and we kindly ask for your patience as this process is completed.
A Fond Farewell
Though public access will cease, Wynfield’s legacy will endure through the memories made in its fields and the conservation practices that have safeguarded its land for generations. Beyond hunting, the plantation has been an integral part of the community—supporting the local economy, fostering connections, and inspiring a love for the outdoors.
